PRESIDENT

RACHEL RAYBURN

There is no greater joy than seeing everyone support events and fundraisers!  On Saturday, the Children & Youth had a Breakfast Fundraiser and it was with heartfelt gratitude to see those that came out to support, participate, and help at the fundraiser.  Great food, great company, and outstanding helpers!

Special thank you to Suzie Bailey for organizing and overseeing the Stand Down donations.   We were able to give to our homeless veterans and their families during this annual event.   Bags were filled with towels, toiletries, toys, socks, snacks, and much more.  All made with donations from many different sources (i.e. auxiliary board, Grace Patricio, Weenee Rodriguez (dental office), etc.)

I/We look forward to an eventful and fun year!  Plans are being made to have a Mexican Brunch Fundraiser, the Fish Fry kickoff is in September, Post Picnic, and many, many more events to come!

FIRST VICE PRESIDENT

CHAPLAIN

SUZIE BAILEY

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

to everyone who donated items for Stand Down. Collections for Stand Down 2018 have already started. Your help through the year make our bags full of toiletries, snacks, socks, towels and toys.

The bags were packed with the help of two members of  VFW Post 2111 Chula Vista Auxiliary, two Members of the Poway VFW Auxiliary , One member of  VFW Post 11387 Auxiliary and Ardy and myself. Numerous members of our American Legion Post, Auxiliary, S.A.L., and Legion Rider donated. Thanks again for every thing. Let us start on next year.

The Veterans attending Stand Down appreciated everything. I walked into where the tents were set up for their weekend home and everyone I talked to continually thanked me. I told them it was our American Legion and VFW working together that made this possible and I would send thanks on to them.

Shirley Ellen was in rehab and is home now and doing fine. Vera spent some time in the hospital and is now at Windsor Manor in National City. Vera would love for everyone to visit.  We lost a wonderful man in the Post, Pecho Portilla went to his heavenly home.

2017 STAND DOWN REPORT

DISTRICT 22 STAND DOWN COORDINATOR

ANDREW PRYOR

Greetings Legion members.   Job Well Done.

Lunch was served to Stand Down participants and volunteers, July 21, 2017 by American Legion volunteers. By all accounts a success.

This year's participant level at this writing is just under 900 total. Thanks to all Post, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders who helped out this year. The staff of Veterans Village of San Diego wanted me to relay thanks to all of our members who helped out. They appreciated the way the kitchen and serving areas were left clean for the next group.

Once again, thank you and Job Well Done.

Respectfully, Andrew Pryor.
